What size bore mop do I need for 9mm?

Use a bore mop labeled ".357/.38/9mm" - all three calibers share nearly identical bore diameters (.355"-.357") and use the same cleaning accessories. The mop uses standard 8-32 threading that fits any pistol or rifle cleaning rod. If you own both a 9mm and a .38 Special revolver, one bore mop covers both.

Are bore mops reusable, or should I throw them away after each use?

Reusable. Cotton bore mops can be washed with solvent or hot soapy water and air-dried between cleanings. Squeeze out excess solvent - don't wring aggressively, as this loosens the cotton from the stem. A single mop lasts through 15-20 cleaning sessions with proper care. Replace when the cotton no longer fits snugly in the bore.

Should I use a bore mop or patches for my pistol?

Both serve a purpose. The bore mop holds more solvent and makes faster work of applying cleaner and absorbing heavy fouling - helpful after a high-round-count range session. Patches on a jag give you a clear visual of bore condition: if the patch comes out clean, you're done. Most shooters use the mop for the messy work and patches for the final inspection pass.

Can I use a copper solvent with my cotton bore mop?

Yes. Cotton does not react with copper-dissolving solvents the way bronze brushes do, so any discoloration on the mop is genuine copper fouling - not a false reading from the cleaning tool. For 9mm and .357 Magnum shooters using jacketed ammunition, this matters: soak the mop in copper solvent, run it through, wait the recommended time, then follow with dry patches.

Do I need to clean my revolver cylinder chambers with a bore mop?

A bore mop can work for applying solvent inside cylinder chambers, but it may be slightly undersized for some .357 Magnum chambers. For better contact, use a bore mop one size up or a dedicated chamber mop. Carbon rings build up at the front of each chamber, especially if you shoot .38 Special in a .357 revolver - the shorter case leaves an exposed ring of chamber wall that collects carbon fast.
