Whether your .30 cal is a bolt-action deer rifle, an AR-10, or a surplus 7.62 - this bore snake cleans it in one pull. Fits .308 Win, .30-06, .30-30, .300 Win Mag, .300 Blackout, 7.62x39, and 7.62 NATO. The brass weight drops through the chamber, the built-in bronze brush attacks carbon and copper fouling, and the woven floss section follows behind to wipe the bore clean. Breech-to-muzzle cleaning in seconds, not minutes.

Bolt-action .308 and .30-06 rifles are easy to clean with a bore snake - pull the bolt, drop the weight, pull the cord. For semi-auto platforms like the AR-10 or AK-pattern rifles in 7.62, the snake feeds through the ejection port. Hunters in the field get the most value: after a morning hunt, run a bore snake with a few drops of solvent through the barrel before casing the rifle. That one pass prevents overnight corrosion and keeps the bore ready for the next day without carrying a full gun cleaning kit into the blind.

Wash the bore snake after every few uses - hand wash or machine wash, then air dry. Store it clean in a sealed bag so grit doesn't embed in the floss. A bore snake handles range-day maintenance and field bore cleaning; save the rod and jag for deep cleaning sessions at the bench.

What cartridges does this bore snake fit?
Every rifle with a .308-inch bore: .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .30-30 Winchester, .300 Win Mag, .300 Blackout, .300 PRC, .300 WSM, 7.62x39, and 7.62x51 NATO. One bore snake covers the entire .30 caliber family - the largest cartridge family in shooting.
Is a bore snake better than a cleaning rod for a .308 rifle?
Different tools for different situations. A bore snake is faster and more convenient - one pull and the bore is wiped clean. A cleaning rod with brush, solvent, and patches is more thorough - it lets you soak, scrub, and inspect the bore systematically. For copper fouling in high-velocity .30 caliber rifles, a rod kit with copper solvent is necessary. For post-range maintenance, the bore snake handles it in 30 seconds.
How many passes should I make with a bore snake?
One pass removes the majority of loose fouling. Two passes with solvent applied to the leading floss handle a typical range session. For heavy fouling after a long shooting day, three passes with fresh solvent each time. If you're still seeing significant residue after three passes, the bore needs a proper rod-and-brush cleaning - the bore snake has reached its limits for that session.
Can a bore snake damage my barrel or rifling?
No. The bronze brush section is softer than barrel steel and the woven floss is cotton/nylon - neither can scratch the bore. The bore snake pulls through in one smooth motion without lateral pressure on the bore walls. The only risk is pulling a dirty bore snake through repeatedly without cleaning it - embedded grit in the floss could theoretically act as an abrasive. Wash the snake regularly to prevent this.
How long does a bore snake last?
With regular washing, 50 to over 100 uses. The bronze brush section wears first - when it flattens to the point where you don't feel it gripping the bore, the snake's scrubbing effectiveness drops significantly. The floss section lasts longer but thins with use. Replace the bore snake when one pass no longer leaves the bore noticeably cleaner than before.
