One brass section and a rotating T-handle - that's the starting point for a modular cleaning rod system that grows with your collection. This 7.5" brass cleaning rod screws directly into the T-handle and accepts any 8-32 threaded brush, jag, mop, or slotted tip at the other end. Need more length? Add additional 7.5" sections between the handle and the tip. One section covers short barrels, four sections reach 30 inches for full-length rifles.

The T-handle rotates freely on ball bearings, and that feature matters more than most shooters realize. When a brush or jag passes through a rifled barrel, the rifling forces it to spin. A rotating handle lets that happen without resistance — the rod follows the twist naturally while your hand stays steady. If the handle were fixed, you'd fight the rotation on every stroke, risking damage to the brush, the rifling, or both. For any firearm with a rifled bore, a rotating handle is the correct choice.

Solid brass construction means this gun cleaning rod is softer than barrel steel - even if the rod contacts the bore, it won't leave scratches or damage the rifling. The same brass material resists solvent corrosion and won't embed abrasive particles the way coated rods can over time. A straightforward, reliable cleaning rod that works with every accessory in your kit.

Why does the T-handle rotate?
When a brush or jag passes through a rifled barrel, the rifling forces it to spin. A rotating handle lets the rod follow this twist naturally while your hand stays steady. Without rotation, you'd fight the rifling on every stroke - this puts stress on the brush, the rod, and the bore. A fixed handle works for smoothbore shotguns, but for any rifled firearm, a rotating T-handle is the correct choice.
Can I extend this rod by adding more sections?
Yes - that's the modular design. Each additional 7.5" brass section threads into the previous one, extending the rod's reach. One section handles pistols and short barrels. Two sections reach 15 inches for carbines. Four sections give you 30 inches for full-length rifle barrels. You build the exact length you need and keep unused sections in your kit.
What thread size does this rod use?
Standard 8-32 threads on the accessory end - compatible with all GUNNIX brushes, jags, mops, and slotted tips for rifle and pistol calibers. For shotgun accessories (5/16-27 threads), use a thread adapter. The section-to-section connection is also 8-32, so all sections thread together seamlessly.
Will a brass rod scratch my barrel?
No. Brass is softer than barrel steel - even if the rod contacts the bore wall, it cannot scratch the rifling. This is the primary advantage of brass rods over steel or even coated steel rods, where the coating can chip and expose the harder steel underneath. A brass rod is barrel-safe for the life of the rod. Competitive shooters and gunsmiths prefer brass rods specifically for this reason.
Is a one-piece rod better than a multi-section rod?
A one-piece rod is stiffer and stays straighter under pushing pressure - it's the benchmark for precision rifle cleaning. A multi-section rod is more portable and adjustable - you carry only the sections you need. For bench cleaning at home, a one-piece rod is ideal. For range bags, field kits, and cleaning multiple firearms of different barrel lengths, the modular system is more practical.
